Lost in thought and
lost in time
While the seeds of
life and the seeds of change were planted
Outside the rain
fell dark and slow
While I pondered on
this dangerous but irresistible pastime
I took a heavenly
ride through our silence
I knew the moment
had arrived……………
Coming back to life, the real one, we met in the fall of
2003 in the city of Kolkata. Quest for a good career and other material things
in life brought us to a college called DMET, Kolkata. None of us knew what was
ahead and probably none of us cared. We dabbled with music much like a child
with a toy car. In those days we primarily listened to the usual Nirvana and
Metallica, sort of a cliche in India. As the days rolled by we added other
greats into our repertoire. We became familiar with names such as Pink Floyd,
Pearl Jam, RATM, Ozz Osbourne, Audioslave and Godsmack. This list has been
expanding ever since.
By 2004 we started teaching ourselves to
play the guitars and drums. Back in those days it was more of a mayhem when we
played and there was no method to it. We have been learning ever since.
Enjoying each stage of the curve. And though we are much better now than we
were in ’04, we still have miles to go before we sleep.
In 2007 we graduated from college with a
degree in Marine engineering. All of us are sailors now, obviously. But thats
just the material aspect of our lives. We still indulge in music whenever we
can. Listening or playing gives us a sense of humility and satisfaction that
nothing else ever can. Thus we keep on wandering, in search of our sound, our
noise and ourselves. Even today when we come together its mayhem. Maybe there
is some method to the mayhem, maybe not, but we intend to keep it that way.
